There is no silent practice tonight at Haughton as we will be attempting a quarter peal tonight at Seighford.
Two young ringers from Haughton, Emily and Sam were lucky enough to ring in today’s Ringing World National Youth Contest in Birmingham. It was the first time Cheshire & North Staffs Young ringers had entered a team and they were so proud to have rung for the team.
Their ringing piece was judged at Erdington.
We then moved to visit the 12 bells at Walsall

The young ringers enjoyed ringing the Taylor 12, and the helpers and leaders enjoy a much needed cup of tea.
We then headed to St. Martin at the Bullring. It was the first time our young ringers had rung on 16 bells.

We then headed towards St. Paul’s in the Jewellery Quarter. At St. Paul’s the two mobile rings were in the grounds, and handbell ringers were performing.

From St. Paul’s we went to Moseley to ring on St. Mary’s lovely 10. They were very welcoming at Moseley and the young ringers really enjoyed their ring.
That was our last ring, we just had enough time to get back to St. Martin’s in the Bullring for the days results. We were overwhelmed by the amount of younger ringers and their teachers all waiting in anticipation for their results.

Our team of young ringers with their medals

We didn’t win, but we thoroughly enjoyed our experience and day. Fingers crossed we will be back next year for another go.
There is an evening service at Stafford this Sunday evening and all ringers are invited to join. Usual start 5.45pm.
Samuel (aged 8) rang his first quarter on Sunday 15th June. He rang the 4th as the tenor to St. Remigius Singles.

We were lucky enough to host the Cheshire and North Staffs Young Ringers meeting on Sunday 15th June. They are practicing for the under 19’s striking competition next month being held in Birmingham.
They had some good practices and some good general ringing. Snacks and drinks were provided by the local ringers.
